IUCN STATUS

Background
Restricted to high elevations in the isolated Vilcabamba mountain range of Peru, this bird’s habitat is extremely difficult to access. To this day, everything known about this species can be gleaned from five specimens that were collected in 1967 and 1968. Based on this tiny sample, we know it occupies cloud forest and elfin forest within its remote, range-restricted world.
