Background

The Mindoro Imperial-Pigeon is found only on the island of Mindoro, Philippines, were it occurs in montane forests above 1,000 m elevation. Past visits to Mindoro's mountains have found good numbers of these pigeons so rediscovering this bird may be primarily a question of accessing the right areas. Mindoro is also home to another, much rarer, lost bird: Mindoro Bleeding-heart.

Last Documented

The last documented records of Mindoro Imperial-Pigeon appear to be photographs taken on Mt. Halcon by Rob Hutchinson and Mark Bezuijen in April 2015.
