Background
Like its mainland counterpart the Hook-billed Kite (C. uncinatus), this bird probably specializes on tree snails. However, unlike that species, the Cuban Kite sports an even larger, all-yellow bill. Although formerly more widespread in Cuba, it is now restricted to remote mountains in the eastern tip, where it has apparently only been photographed or videotaped on three occasions.
