Restricted to three isolated mountain groups in the north coastal ranges of New Guinea, a Mayr's Honeyeater was documented during a recent expedition (July 2023) to the Cyclops Mountains of Papua, Indonesia. Prior to that, the last documentation was a November 2008 video from the Foja Mountains of Papua, Indonesia.
