Because it is not clear that any of the "Rio de Janeiro Antwrens" seen at Reserva Ecológica Guapiaçu (REGUA), Brazil, pertain to the taxon described from the original type specimen (Pimentel and Olmos 2011), this means that the only unambiguous record of the Rio de Janeiro Antwren is the type specimen, which was collected near Santo Aleixo, southeast Brazil, in July 1982 (Gonzaga 1988).
