This mysterious hummingbird is known from only two specimens, both collected prior to 1852 (Graves 1999). Although they are labelled as originating from somewhere in Bolivia, the precise location of these birds is not known. One of the two specimens is housed at the Natural History Museum in Tring, UK, while the other is at the American Museum of Natural History, New York.
