Background

Simply reaching the home range of the Abd al Kuri Sparrow is the hardest part of finding the species. The sparrow is found only on Abd al Kuri (Yemen), a small island located between the northeastern tip of Somalia and the island of Socotra. Few birdwatchers visit Abd al Kuri, and there were no documented records of the sparrow between 2001 and March 2022, when it was photographed by a group from Birdtour Asia.
