Background
Endemic to mountain habitats on the island of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea, this poorly-known thrush has not been definitely documented since 2002.
Last Documented
The last documented record of this species appears to be photographs of an individual that was mist netted on 24 May 2002 at around 1500m elevation in Bougainville's Crown Prince Range by D. Hadden (Hadden 2004). This photograph is published in Hadden's Birds and Bird Lore of Bougainville and the North Solomons (Dove Publications, 2004). Prior to that, four specimens of the thrush were collected on Bougainville in June 1980. Version 1 of the Lost Birds List, published in 2022, listed these 1980 specimens as the last documented record of the species.
